MODEL LESSON

The teacher plays a CD track while students listen. Students then complete related activities in their magazine.

PREPARATION : 5 minutes

Find the appropriate transcript in the Teacher's Guide for the section you are working on and familiarize yourself with the theme and the beginnings and ends of the tracks.

 

MATERIALS NEEDED :

Teacher: CD player, CD, teacher's guide Student: CHAT ESL RADIO magazine

 

 

ACTUAL LESSON

Pre-listening: Students look at the page and predict what they'll hear on the radio program based on what they see on the page.
While listening: Students listen to one or two tracks. Repeat the track(s) if nessesary. Allow them to complete the comprehension activities in their magazine.
Post-listening: Correct these activities. Students complete the My Ideas section in class and share their opinions in a small group.
Homework: Assign the Reaching Out section(s).
Evaluation: When you have completed a theme, have the students do the formative listening and writing evaluations (The “Write” Stuff).
